We are happy to share with you the 2022 Annual Report for Hospice Ethiopia. We are very appreciative of your support and interest in helping grow Hospice Services in Ethiopia. Without the support of many, we would not be able to offer these services to the most vulnerable in our society. Click here for the report:
Today is the BIG GIVE for Hospice Ethiopia. We will be raising money specifically to pay for the development of the palliative care service at one of the largest public hospitals in Ethiopia. The project will target St Paul’s Hospital Oncology and Emergency Departments where palliative care is desperately needed. 50 key personnel will be trained at this large teaching hospital. This follows on from the successful development of an Ethiopian standardised palliative care training course in 2020, developed jointly by HE with the Federal Ministry Of Health (Big Give 2020 project).
If successful it is hoped this project will be repeated in other public hospitals thereby improving palliative care across Ethiopia.
Donations to this project will be matched for 7 days, from 12pm on Tuesday 30th November. So, every pound donated during that period means two pounds for Hospice Ethiopia.

We are delighted that Ephrem has finally been able to visit the UK. In Norwich, he visited Priscilla Bacon Lodge (see above photo) and The Market Surgery to see how palliative care is delivered in the UK. He found visiting a patient in their own home in the UK a very memorable experience.
Ephrem also gave an informative presentation at St John of the Cross church, Aylsham to local supporters about his tireless work to relieve the suffering of the dying in Ethiopia. The audience was much moved and over £400 was raised to aid his work.
We are so thankful for the response we have had from many that watched the Ethiopian Broadcasting Service (EBS) special on Hospice Ethiopia and how many people in Ethiopia are in need of Hospice and Palliative Care services. Attached is the video that was shared on EBS.

One of our patients, Fetle, spoke at the World Hospice and Palliative Care day meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Fetle has been getting care for breast cancer from Hospice Ethiopia and spoke on medical care and spiritual comfort she has received from being on Hospice Ethiopia’s program. The World Hospice and Palliative are Alliance (WHPCA), Hospice Ethiopia and others met in Addis Ababa this week for the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day celebration and community meeting. Many spoke including those from the Ministry of Health and the Executive Director of Hospice Ethiopia, Ephrem Abathun.
