We would love to see you join us in Ethiopia to learn about Hospice Ethiopia, have an amazing cup of Ethiopian coffee, tour our facilities and meet our staff!

There are a variety of areas that we could use support from within Ethiopia and afar.  We especially need support in the areas of Hospice and Palliative care.  However, many that don’t have medical expertise have traveled and learned about Hospice Ethiopia in order to develop partnerships around the world.  Below are some examples our recent visitors:

Jim came to visit and helped us review our annual budget. His background in finance gave us new ideas on how to organize and report our program to our board and other partners, thank you Jim!

A medical team came from Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) to train emergency medical professionals.  While here their technical support person that toured our facility and met some of our patients.  She was moved by our mission and is now back in the US helping update our website.

Sue and xxx come yearly from the UK as they help oversee a charity called Hospice Ethiopia UK that helps tremendously by fundraising and providing additional guidance and oversight to help us achieve our objectives. During their visit they work to understand the needs, train medical professionals on palliative care practices and give valuable moral support to our team.  Click here if you would like more information about Hospice Ethiopia UK.

Consider giving a regular gift

There are hundreds of patients that we are needing to provide ongoing support of medicine, some housing and emotional support.  Your donation will greatly improve the quality of life for our patients as they battle difficult health situations in extreme poverty.  We thank you in advance for your support.

Please give whatever you can afford, any size of gift is greatly appreciate and in a country where the average entry-level salary range from $35-40 per month your gift can truly bless many.

We have provided options for giving from the UK or the US.  If you have other questions about giving please feel free to contact us.

Meet Immediate Critical Needs

Last year donations from our supporters allowed us to sustain our operations.  With continued increase awareness in many communities of what Hospice care is and our program we have found an increase demand in these areas:

Help sustain medical supplies (morphine, antibiotics, dressings, bedding) for our patients.
Help us with our administrative cost (staffing, etc). We are growing in suburbs outside Ethiopia and the additional travel and patient load will require another nurse and driving support.

Support a 1 week training course for health care providers and community regarding palliative care

We are grateful if you would consider supporting one of these critical needs by donating to Hospice Ethiopia.

In order for Hospice Ethiopia to sustain its operations we are in need of ongoing financial support; as an Ethiopian NGO we receive almost no money from inside Ethiopia and grants from world-wide charities are difficult to obtain.

Therefore having partners throughout the world that will raise funds for our cause can make a HUGE difference in supporting those most vulnerable and needing our services.

If your church or community group would like to coordinate a fun event and support a worthwhile cause at the same time please download this fundraising idea guide or email us and we will help partner with you on ideas.

Recently, our partners in the UK (Hospice Ethiopia UK) raised funds thru many social fundraisers so we could purchase a new vehicle to visit our patients.

Leave a gift in your will

Remembering a charity in your Will can be a powerful way to ensure that your estate continues to help the most vulnerable after you are no longer here. Legacies allow charities, like Hospice Ethiopia to support the causes that are most important to you for generations to come.

Legacies have the power to transform lives in Ethiopia and create long term positive change.

What you may consider to be a small part of your estate can change the fortunes of people living in poverty.

In Ethiopia there is a proverb that states: “for one person 50 lemons is a burden, for 50 people, 50 lemons are like jewelry.”

We understand that your first priority is to ensure the future security of the people you love, and keeping an up-to-date Will that reflects your current wishes is the best way to ensure that.

If you would like to talk to someone in confidence, please email mylegacy@hospiceethiopia.com.

If you have already decided to remember us in your Will, please do let us know as we would like the opportunity to say thank you!  Of course, you can rely on us to treat anything you tell us in the strictest of confidence.

“To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
